My journey began in 2008 when he took on the role of a Bhangra coach at Punjab MGC College. With a vision to refine and elevate the traditional art form, he trained young dancers, preparing them to showcase the richness of Punjabi folk culture. That same year, his dedication and talent led him to perform on a national stage, marking a milestone in his Bhangra career.
Determined to continue his journey, he moved to Australia and, in 2019, founded Malwai Bhangra Academy in Adelaide, South Australia. Through this academy, he aimed to bring the essence of traditional Malwai Bhangra to a new generation, keeping the folk spirit alive far from its homeland. His academy’s debut performance at Murray Bridge was a proud moment, and it was just the beginning of an inspiring journey.
Under his guidance, Malwai Bhangra Academy has participated in six Bhangra Cup competitions in Australia, proving its strength and dedication in the competitive Bhangra community. His teams have continued to carry the true essence of folk Bhangra, blending passion, discipline, and cultural pride.
From the fields of Punjab to the vibrant stages of Australia, his journey is a testament to the timeless power of Bhangra—a dance that transcends borders, unites people, and keeps the pulse of Punjabi heritage alive for generations to come.
“it’s a way of life, a rhythm of hard work, passion, and perseverance. To the young generation: embrace your roots, stay dedicated, and never stop learning. Whether on stage or in life, give your best, move with confidence, and let your energy inspire others. The future of our culture is in your hands—dance with pride, dream big, and keep the spirit of Bhangra alive!” –Harinder Singh
